TRUMP AND HIS SUBORDINATES BELIEVE IN A REVERSE CLEEK'S LAW

CNBC reports on today's White House news conference:
Paris Agreement is European ploy to put the US economy in shackles, says EPA chief Scott Pruitt

European leaders urged the United States to stay in the Paris climate agreement so they could suppress the American economy, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt said Friday.

"The world applauded when we joined Paris, and you know why? I think they applauded because they knew it was going to put this country at an economic disadvantage," he said during a White House press briefing. "And the reason European leaders ... that I think they want us to stay in, is because they know it will continue to shackle our economy," he said.

Pruitt's comments are remarkable because the United States has historically counted many European countries as its closest strategic allies. The U.S. is also the European Union's largest trade partner and its biggest export market.
Pruitt's comments aren't remarkable at all -- President Trump said the same thing yesterday, in his own inimitable way:
"The rest of the world applauded when we signed the Paris Agreement," he said. "They went wild. They were so happy. For the simple reason that it put our country, the United States of America, which we all love, at a very, very big economic disadvantage."

"A cynic would say the obvious reason for economic competitors and their wish to see us remain in the agreement is so that we continue to suffer this self-inflicted major economic wound," the president continued. "We would find it very hard to compete with other countries from other parts of the world."
As I've said many times, the Trump administration is the living embodiment of Cleek's Law:
Today’s conservatism is the opposite of what liberals want today, updated daily.
What Pruitt and Trump are arguing is that evil furriners roped us into the Paris agreement because they want whatever is the exact opposite of what we want. They don't care about the climate. They don't really think global warming is a big deal. They labored over this agreement for years and brought nearly two hundred countries to the bargaining table just to screw the United States (with, of course, a big assist from that treasonous America-hater Barack Obama). Everyone signed on in the hope that America will fail, because bringing about the failure of America is the ultimate goal of all foreigners. Fortunately, Donald Trump is on to their nefarious schemes. #MAGA!

This, of course, is projection, because Trump's withdrawal from Paris was done largely to piss off the foreigners (and non-provincial Americans). And his backers are cheering largely for that reason:

Supporters of Paris don't think like that. But its opponents think the supporters do, because they think that way themselves.
